President Muhammadu Buhari was last night on his way to London for another round of medical treatment for his yet undisclosed ailment. No duration has been given for the medical vacation.
In a statement by Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President (Media and Publicity) said, the length of the President’s stay in London will be determined by the doctors but that government will continue to function under the leadership of the Vice president Yemi Osinbajo.
The statement read,” President Muhammadu Buhari proceeds to London tonight for follow-up medical consultation with his doctors.
The President himself subsequently confirmed his departure and his notification of the trip to the National Assembly in a series of tweets from his personal twitter handle. The President’s return to London will be his fourth medical vacation to the United Kingdom since his inauguration on May 29, 2015.
“The length of the President’s stay in London will be determined by the doctors. Government will continue to function normally under the able leadership of the Vice President.
“President Buhari has transmitted letters about the trip to the Senate and the House of Representatives, in compliance with Section 145 (1) of the 1999 Constitution.”
